EREMOS-IX izdod otro pilnmetrāžas albumu “FOREGONE”

2026. gada 9. oktobrī (digitāli) un 2. novembrī CD formātā Latvijas ekstrēmā metāla grupa EREMOS-IX izdod savu otro pilnmetrāžas
albumu “Foregone”.
balvu par EP (mini-albumu) “Marquis of Snakes”, sasniegusi Wacken Metal Battle Latvijas finālu,
to apturēt kļūst arvien mazāka, līdz brīdim, kad tā kļūst neizbēgama.
tā, it kā cilvēks atrastos visuma centrā.
SEŠI STĀSTI – SEŠI STRUPCEĻI: Katra no sešām “Foregone” dziesmām šo ideju aplūko no citas
perspektīvas, smeļoties iedvesmu vēsturē, literatūrā, reliģijā, politikā, folklorā un mūsdienu
karadarbībā. Albuma ievadošā dziesma “Silicate Heart” pievēršas dronu karam un sajūtai, ko
rada auksts, bezpersonisks pretinieks.
“Rottweiler” apcer autoritārismu, aplūkojot to no nelokāma
“The Mariner” ir Semjuela Teilora Kolridža poēmas “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner”
Savukārt “The Anchorite”, kuru iedvesmojusi poļu-armēņu
Visbeidzot,
albumu noslēdz “A River of Iron” – pati pirmā EREMOS-IX sarakstītā dziesma, jaunā izpildījumā,
vēsture.“Bērnībā dzelzceļš man bija vieta, kur aizbēgt no pasaules.

2025. gadā EREMOS-IX EP “Marquis of Snakes” saņēma Latvijas
Frailty, Dehydrated goat, Dodsrit, Lamp of Murmuur, Orbstruct un Batushka.
Huskvarn.

Vēsture un papildus informācija par “FOREGONE”

NO EKSPERIMENTA LĪDZ GRUPAI: EREMOS-IX sākums bija ievērojami pieticīgāks. 2018. gadā
Kots spēlēja citā vietējā grupā, kurai bija sarakstījis dziesmu, kas neiederējās ne topošajā albumā,
ne grupas turpmākajā muzikālajā virzienā. Dziesmu izmest viņš nevēlējās. Iedvesmojoties no VICE
dokumentālās filmas par viena cilvēka black metal projektiem (One man metal), tapa EREMOS-IX
“Darba
procesā mēs to vienkārši saucām par “next album”. Tā būtībā bija 2024. un 2025. gadā sarakstītu
dziesmu kolekcija,” atceras Kots.
Viens no retajiem
skaņdarbiem, kas pārmaiņas pārdzīvoja gandrīz neskarts, bija “The Mariner”.
Tādejādi, no nejauši radušās sakritības izauga visa albuma
ideja.
elementus.
“Pirmais EREMOS-IX albums būtībā bija jautājums – vai es to spēju? Kad projekts kļuva par grupu,
jautājums bija – vai mēs to spējam? Ar ‘Foregone’ šī jautājuma vairs nav,” saka Kots. “EREMOS-IX
milzīgs materiāls, no kura smelties iedvesmu, idejas, stāstus.

EREMOS-IX RELEASE SECOND FULL-LENGTH
ALBUM “FOREGONE”
Six stories about the moment when choice becomes inevitability.

On October 9, 2026, Latvian extreme metal band EREMOS-IX release their second full-length album,
“Foregone.” Across six tracks, the band explores moments in which human choices, accidents and external
circumstances converge to a point where it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish free will from
inevitability.
“Foregone” was created during a period of significant change for the band itself. EREMOS-IX began in
2018 as a solo project, but by 2024 had developed into a full band, playing their first live show in early
2025. Over the following year and a half, the band won the Latvian Metal Music Award for EP (mini-album)
of the year with “Marquis of Snakes,” reached the Latvian final of Wacken Metal Battle, taking first place in
the jury vote, became the first extreme metal band to perform a full live set on Latvian national radio, and
performed across Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Just days before the release of the album, EREMOS-IX
played a sold-out show in Riga alongside Polish black metal legends Batushka.
FOREGONE: This is not a story about victory. At the heart of the album lies the opposite side of the human
experience – helplessness in situations where a chain of events has already been set in motion and the
possibility of stopping it grows increasingly remote. And the ability of a human being to experience the
world only through themselves.
“Human beings can only experience the world through themselves. We feel fear, love, anger and death as
if each of us stood at the centre of everything. Yet, on a larger scale, we are almost insignificant,” says
EREMOS-IX founder Dāvis Kots, describing the idea behind the album. “And sometimes seemingly
insignificant choices, accidents and events accumulate like dominoes until we reach a point where the
path has become so narrow that it is no longer clear whether what remains is still a choice – or already
fate.”
SIX STORIES – SIX DEAD ENDS: Each of the six songs on “Foregone” approaches this idea from a different
perspective, drawing inspiration from history, literature, religion, politics, folklore and modern warfare.
The album’s opening track, “Silicate Heart,” focuses on drone warfare and the feeling created by a cold,
impersonal adversary. It personifies the drone as a creature with glass in place of eyes and a silicate
microchip in place of a heart. “Rottweiler” reflects on authoritarianism, examining it from the perspective
of an unwavering follower and embodying fanatical obedience in the image of a vicious, obedient dog. The
dog does not realize that it is doing anything wrong. It remains loyal to its master until its final breath,
carrying out even the most brutal commands. “The Mariner” is an interpretation of Samuel Taylor
Coleridge’s poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” and, at the same time, a story about an event or
action whose consequences a person is forced to carry with them for the rest of their life. “The
Anchorite,” inspired by the painting of the same name by Polish-Armenian artist Teodor Axentowicz,
explores religious solitude and doubt – what happens to a person who has devoted their entire life to faith,
but towards the end of their life begins to wonder whether anyone was ever listening? “Nensha” is based
on the supernatural ability to imprint destructive and traumatizing images into physical media and into
the minds of other living beings. This supernatural phenomenon originates in Japanese folklore and also
served as the basis for the film “The Ring.” Finally, the album closes with “A River of Iron” – the very first
song written by EREMOS-IX, presented in a new rendition, re-recorded and adapted from its 2018 version.
Its source of inspiration is the Šķirotava railway and its history. “As a child, the railway was a place where I
could escape from the world. I was fascinated by these enormous, heavy, almost supernatural machines
and by the entire aesthetic of the railway. At the same time, I had known since kindergarten the stories of
people who were deported from Šķirotava to Siberia,” says Kots. “Because of that, it has always seemed
almost like sacred ground to me — dangerous, inhuman and cursed.”

ABOUT EREMOS-IX:

EREMOS-IX began in 2018 as a solo project and developed into a full band in 2024, taking the
stage for the first time in early 2025. The band’s sound lies between blackened death and doom
metal, combining an aggressive, modern sound with the roots of classic extreme metal. The lyrics
draw inspiration from personal experience, dreams, mythology and religion. In 2025, the
EREMOS-IX EP “Marquis of Snakes” received the Latvian Metal Music Award in the “Best EP”
category. In 2026, the band took 2nd place in the Latvian final of Wacken Metal Battle, while
receiving 1st place in the jury vote, and also became the first extreme metal band to perform on
Latvian national radio with a full live instrumental lineup.
The band has performed at festivals including Zobens un Lemess, Dūstant Black Metal Fest III,
Sugis Extreme Fest and Grēkāzis, as well as sharing the stage with bands such as Dymna Lotva,
Luctus, Preternatural, Frailty, Dehydrated Goat, Dodsrit, Lamp of Murmuur and Batushka.

Additional information about “FOREGONE”

FROM AN EXPERIMENT TO A BAND: EREMOS-IX had considerably more modest beginnings. In 2018, Kots
was playing in another local band, for which he had written a song that fit neither the upcoming album nor
the band’s future musical direction. He did not want to throw the song away. Inspired by the VICE
documentary about one-man black metal projects (One Man Metal), EREMOS-IX was created with one
deliberate rule – to do everything himself.
He learned recording and mixing, graphic design, the preparation of physical releases, and everything else
necessary to take music from its initial idea all the way to a finished release. At the beginning of the
project, a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface and a Shure SM58 microphone were purchased. Eight
years later, most of the guitars and vocals on “Foregone” are still recorded using that same equipment.
However, EREMOS-IX nearly came to an end before it ever became a band. Studies, work and private life
gradually pushed music aside, and at one point Kots did not touch his guitar for almost a year. What
helped bring him back to the project was an unsuccessful attempt to form another black metal band – it
was there that Kots met drummer Frenks Šenbergs, whom he later invited to join EREMOS-IX.
By early 2025, the lineup already consisted of four musicians. The other members then presented the
project’s founder with one simple condition – they did not want to be hired backing musicians. They
wanted to be the band. This meant giving up some of the control upon which the entire project had
originally been built, but it also brought trust and the satisfaction of having members who believed in the
vision and saw potential in it. It was in this new form that “Foregone” was created.
BEFORE METAL CAN BE CAST, IT HAS TO BE MELTED: Initially, “Foregone” did not even have a title. “During
the writing process, we simply called it the ‘next album.’ It was essentially a collection of songs written
throughout 2024 and 2025,” Kots recalls. “Some of the ideas were good, but overall the material had been
written in too much of a hurry. It was too monotonous, too safe, and it lacked that nasty, evil attitude we
were looking for.”

A large portion of the material was discarded, and the band effectively started over. One of the few tracks
to survive the changes almost untouched was “The Mariner”. It also became important conceptually – the
song’s structure of “the lead-up to the event, the event itself, and its consequences” gradually began to
reappear throughout the other lyrics. Thus, the entire concept of the album grew out of a pattern that had
emerged almost by accident.
With the addition of the other members, the band also had to combine and synthesize a variety of
different musical tastes and influences. The direction, however, was clear – heavier and more aggressive,
moving towards a more death metal-influenced sound without abandoning the black metal, doom,
melodic and atmospheric elements.
“The first EREMOS-IX album was essentially a question – can I do this? When the project became a band,
the question became – can we do this? With ‘Foregone’, that question is no longer there,” says Kots.
“EREMOS-IX has finally reached the level I imagined when I started this project. It has finally matured.”
METAL WITHOUT A HERO: As is well known, Latvia is represented on the international stage to a large
extent by the folk metal genre. With “Foregone”, however, EREMOS-IX wants to show another side of
Latvian heavy music as well. “Latvian folk metal has its well-deserved place, and our history and folklore
contain an enormous wealth of material from which to draw inspiration, ideas and stories. But that is not
the world we represent,” Kots explains. “We are interested in something darker, more misanthropic and
bleaker – not the hero’s victory, glory and triumph, but the more miserable sides of human existence.”
“Foregone”, therefore, is not an attempt to provide an answer to the question of free will and fate. The
album stops one moment earlier – at the point where the answer is no longer clear.
